Head of Business Development Position Overview
BlueShift is seeking a Head of Business Development to join our team and drive adoption of our groundbreaking technology. This role will work alongside the CEO to execute a revenue strategy and secure customers and partners. This is an opportunity to join BlueShift at its early growth phase and work with corporates, investors, and startups leading the critical minerals revolution.
BlueShift builds electrochemical systems to unlock resilient, rapidly scalable critical mineral supply chains and cost-effective carbon dioxide removal (CDR). We integrate proprietary membrane-free technology from Harvard, University of Michigan and ARPA-E, along with additive manufacturing, and existing infrastructure.
We are deploying on a pier in Boston Harbor and building out of Greentown Labs and Engine (MIT). We are open to candidates seeking in-person, hybrid, or fully-remote positions. This position will require domestic and international travel. Your expertise will drive the development of cost-effective, scalable solutions that advance BlueShifts mission to accelerate economic resilience by unlocking underutilized resources.
Responsibilities
Design and implement a strategic business development plan to promote our technology from pilot projects to full-scale commercial rollouts. Prepare and deliver presentations, pitch decks, and proposals for potential partners and customers.
Partner with the leadership team to create innovative business models and pricing strategies that reflect market demands and align with the companys vision.
Assist in structuring and negotiating agreements for pilot programs and first-of-a-kind (FOAK) equipment installations.
Work cross-functionally with engineering, product, and R&D teams to ensure commercial strategies are in sync with technical development. Provide market and customer feedback to guide product planning.
Represent the company at conferences, trade shows, and industry events.
Qualifications
A minimum of 5 years of experience in business development, sales, commercialization, or innovation rolesideally within the mining sector, mining technology providers, or a related field.
Skilled at managing long and complex sales cycles and engaging with executive-level decision-makers, preferably within mining or industrial sectors. Experience with RFPs and corporate contracting processes is a plus.
Proven ability to design and refine business models and go-to-market strategies for emerging technologies or platforms.
Familiarity with negotiating and structuring large-scale commercial deals.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret market trends, customer insights, and competitive forces. Capable of aligning business initiatives with broader company objectives.
Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities, with experience influencing stakeholders across various levels. Demonstrated leadership and comfort working in a fast-moving startup environment.
